David Zaccheus, I have known Sabine Hellfaier since 2004 when I approached her to be responsible for hair and make-up on a short film I had written, and was directing, and also producing through my company Rumbala Australia Pty Ltd. It was an early morning shoot at Billinudgel during the worst storm of the season. Sabine made herself available at short notice, and proved to be a great crew member. Her professional attitude was a steadying influence on the set, and she was able to endear herself to everyone she came in contact with, with her pleasant nature. I next worked with Sabine when she sub-contracted her skills as a make-up artist to a casting agency to whom my company was also sub-contracting services in recruitment and photography of new talent. Sabine was responsible for preparing hair and make-up for new talent prior to the studio photoshoot. She was always prompt and reliable, and a good communicator in situations where unforeseen circumstances arose. When putting a crew together for my next film, ‘Learning to Fly’ Sabine was first on the list. It was shot in the Byron Bay Community Centre on a public holiday, in one gruelling 18 hour session. That film was recently requested by the Australian Film Commission for inclusion in their 2007/2008 catalogue and database. I have also worked with Sabine on two other short films, for members of the Byron Bay Film Artists Co-operative, where we both occupied crew positions. Sabine is a ‘can do’, multi-talented, self-confident individual who is comfortable taking direction, but not afraid to tap into her own creativity to offer solutions, if requested. She would be an asset to any organisation with whom she wished to become associated, and I have no hesitation in recommending her, in respect to both her professional ability and good character. |
